Family Treatments and Procedures

When we say our practice is full-service, we mean it.   Whether it's a sophisticated cosmetic procedure or a simple check-up, you'll receive the highest quality work and professional advice. We pride ourselves on providing efficient care often completed in a single visit to our facility!

CHILD SERVICES

Having children of our own, the dentists at Dental Care of South Jersey understand how crucial those first visits can be.   We offer toys, plasma TV's with a selection of kid's DVD's, treats, beverages and of course, vast experience in comforting and serving local families.  Many longtime patients show up with their own kids to get them off to a great start.

Child Orthodontics Two-Phase Program
The earlier we can diagnose a treatment the sooner you'll achieve your dream smile!   Our dentists will explain the many options and guide you to making the right choice for you and your family.

Sometimes children exhibit signs of crowding teeth or jaw problems. Children over the age of 4 may be excellent candidates for early orthodontic intervention to correct their smile. In the first phase, oral appliances can be utilized to direct growth to improve the jaw and teeth alignment.   Some children may have early braces placed on just a few teeth, such as one molar on each side and the front four teeth.  Early treatment in this first phase may decrease the treatment time required for the second phase of braces.  Most often, at the end of first-phase, the teeth may not be in their best or final position; this will be accomplished during the second-phase.
Second-phase treatment most often consists of straight-forward orthodontic therapy that will align the teeth.

Sealants
A clear or shaded plastic is applied to assist natural enamel in preventing decay.   Sealants are covered by many private dental plans.   Lasting several years before reapplication is required, sealants not only save teeth from cavities, but can save dental visits, too.

Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride is a natural element that is singularly effective in fighting cavities.   Many kids though are no longer getting enough fluoride through the water supply.   We coat the teeth in a fluoride varnish similar to the treatments of the past, but now more durable.   Healthy young teeth have a better chance of leading to healthy adult teeth.   Coatings last 3-4 months and need application 3-4 times a year.

ADULT SERVICES

Orthodontic Services
The great news is that, even for adults, many areas that need improvement are quite easily treated.   Numerous options are available, too, including regular braces, invisible braces or re-alignment using Invisalign® custom trays (see below). For some adults, braces are the right choice.  Our experts can recommend the best, most comfortable and quickest solution to give you the smile you've always wanted.

Soft Tissue Management & Periodontal Care
Without healthy gums, it is challenging to sustain healthy teeth.   Our periodontal specialist is Dr. Robert Denmark.    In addition to performing periodontal procedures and bone grafts, he will arrange a program that keeps your soft tissue in the best possible condition.

Arestin® Antibiotic Treatments
Arestin® is a highly effective antibiotic that comes in powder form.   After scaling and root planning treatment has finished, Arestin is placed inside periodontal cavities.   Time-released antibiotic (minocycline) microspheres act to keep the tooth and gum area healthy.

Root Canals
New technology enables the elimination of decay much more thoroughly than in the past.   However, if a root abscesses, immediate treatment may be required.   Contact us to schedule your appointment today.

Sedation Dentistry
Our dental experts are used to handling sensitive problems.   Where applicable, we can now arrange for patients to be sedated to any degree required.   Full sedation is an option in which the patient will have no traumatic memory.

TMJ/ TMD   ( temporomandibular disorder)
Jaw muscle and joint problems can be extremely debilitating, but unfortunately are commonly misdiagnosed.   Typical TMJ symptoms are moderate-to-severe headaches, neck and shoulder muscle aches, blurred vision, and ear pain among others.   These disorders tend to be incorrectly treated as migraine, leading to unnecessary and continued pain.   In a significant percentage of cases, symptoms can be reduced or eliminated within three visits to our visit.   We use computerized scans to track your bite and can generally tell you within 5 minutes whether or not you're a candidate for pain relief through TMJ treatment.
